Who We Are

New Zion Missionary Church, located in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina, is a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our local community through faith-based initiatives. As a non-denominational Christian church, we welcome individuals from all walks of life and seek to make a meaningful impact through worship, outreach, and community engagement.

Our blend of traditional and contemporary worship brings generations together in unity. Beyond Sunday services, our church supports fellowship, religious merchandise, food and beverage initiatives, tithes and offerings, and a building fund to sustain our work.

Our greatest strength is the dedication and faith of our members. We encourage spiritual growth, personal development, volunteerism, community service, and opportunities to lead and serve.

In Loving Memory of Pastor Archie McHerring

A Legacy of Service

Our Missionary History

Founded in 2002, New Zion Missionary Church began with the vision and dedication of our late founder, Pastor Archie McHerring. Called to spread the gospel rather than pursue profit, Pastor Archie began the ministry humbly in a house at 20 N Vance St, Greenville, SC. There, he laid the foundation for a church devoted to the teachings of the Bible and the love of Jesus Christ.

Through years of missionary service, Pastor Archie shared a message of holiness and compassion. His tireless work helped establish a congregation that lives its faith through kindness, worship, learning, and community service. His vision was a place where people could come together and grow in Christ.

Today, we honor that legacy by strengthening our membership, exploring sustainable ways to support our ministry, and continuing to serve our neighbors. New Zion's story is one of faith, perseverance, and a lasting commitment to a higher calling.

Carrying the Vision Forward

Current Leadership

Following the passing of our founder in March 2022, his son, Pastor Avion J. Ballenger (Pastor A.J. Ballenger), took up the mantle of leadership. Under his guidance, New Zion continues its commitment to community service and to the faith and values established by Pastor Archie McHerring.
